With eight employees and a hydraulic snubbing unit, Bobby Joe Cudd founded Cudd Pressure Control in 1977 in Woodward, Oklahoma. Specializing in well firefighting and well control in Western Oklahoma, we quickly expanded into Rock Springs, Wyoming in 1978. In 1979, CPC acquired several companies to expand into Texas and Louisiana.
In 1980, Rollins Inc. acquired CPC and merged it into its oilfield services group that already included Patterson Services and Patterson Tubular. In 1984, Rollins Inc. created a spin-off consisting of Patterson and CPC called RPC Energy Services (NYSE: RES).
From 1986 through 1995, operations expanded through acquisitions and improved market conditions; well firefighting in Kuwait in the early 1990s provided tremendous international exposure and growth for the company. In 1996, RPC Energy Services was renamed RPC Inc.
